Tell us about yourself.
I am Romanian of origin and live in Greensboro, NC. I am 55 years old and currently work as a group fitness instructor. I love to be outdoors hiking, paddleboarding, cycling, I love to travel either with friends or my significant other.
Did you have a successful experience using DigniCap?
I couldn’t be happier that I didn’t lose any of my hair. I did cut it short before starting the treatment, as I didn’t want to stress it out by pulling it. I felt a bit tired throughout the treatment, however I functioned normally, maintaining my usual activity level. I recovered very quickly after finishing the treatment and got back to my regular energy levels. Towards the end of the treatment, I did lose my eyebrows and eyelashes, so I am pretty sure that, without DigniCap, I would have lost my hair as well.
“Please do whatever it takes to receive the scalp cooling treatment. It is definitely well worth it! It can be easy after all, without any dramatic changes in lifestyle.“
Why was keeping your hair during chemotherapy important to you?
This was very important to me as I do care about my appearance, it influences my confidence, my self-esteem.
How did keeping your hair affect you, and those around you?
To me it was extremely important that I saved my hair through scalp cooling. I was able to continue my usual activities and social life throughout the entire treatment, with most people not knowing anything about what I was going through! To me this was huge, uplifting, gave me the strength I needed.
What advice would you give to someone who is going through a similar experience, or who has recently been diagnosed and is considering scalp cooling?
I hope I can inspire and encourage anyone who was diagnosed with something similar and/or was prescribed a similar treatment. It all can be easy after all, without any dramatic changes in lifestyle. Please do whatever it takes to receive the scalp cooling treatment. It is definitely well worth it!!
