Tell us about yourself.
I am a Registered Nurse by background, but currently work for a medical device company as a clinical specialist. I’m married to my husband, Tom, and we have a 4-year-old dog named Peanut. I was diagnosed with breast cancer almost 2 years ago and, at the time, lived in St. Petersburg, FL. When I finished chemo, we moved to Atlanta and currently live there.

How did you find out about DigniCap?
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023. My first thought when I knew my treatment would include chemotherapy was, “I don’t want to lose my hair”. My oncologist recommended that I do scalp cooling with my treatment.

“A cancer diagnosis rocks both your internal and external identity and there is no doubt that being able to keep my hair gave me the strength to remember who I am in some of my hardest moments.“

Did you have a successful experience using DigniCap?
I had Taxol treatments for 12 weeks and used DigniCap. At the end of treatment I lost mainly volume in my hair. After my treatment, I moved to another state and was able to continue my life without a missing piece of myself, my hair. I’m so grateful for the ability to have kept my hair during my treatment.

Why was keeping your hair during chemotherapy important to you?
Keeping my hair during chemo was important to me because I was able to still recognize the person in the mirror while the world around me was spinning.

How did keeping your hair affect you, and those around you?
A cancer diagnosis rocks both your internal and external identity and there is no doubt that being able to keep my hair gave me the strength to remember who I am in some of my hardest moments.

What advice would you give to someone who is going through a similar experience, or who has recently been diagnosed and is considering scalp cooling?
I’m so lucky that scalp cooling worked well for me and my treatment. There are so many great resources and online communities of people going through scalp cooling who lift each other up during the process. I recommend anyone thinking about or going through scalp cooling to become a part of these communities. Scalp cooling was a game changer for me and I am so grateful for my successful outcome.
